Anyone have any recommendations for bike repair persons? Ideally, I'd find someone who could show me what needs to be done, help me source parts and tools, but would let me do the work myself. Proximity to Mountain View is a bonus, but I'm open to anyone in the Bay Area.

In Berkeley there is Street Level Cycles/Waterside Workshops, which has a fully-equipped bike shop where you can make your own repairs and teaches free repair classes.

I've also heard very good things about Missing Link Bicycle Co-op here in Berkeley. They offer free repair classes... though it looks like they don't have any scheduled currently.
