Until recently, I shunned Facebook as it seemed like another version of Friendster. I really only used my account to respond to other people’s friend requests.

However, I’ve started using it more, and I’ve found that I really like their photo tagging facility. For example, here’s a photo of my high school Academic Decathlon team, on our way to nationals:

It was taken by one of my teammates, Wendee Shulsen. I tagged it with my name, and now it shows up in my album. Cool!

My brother and I taking a post-Thanksgiving dinner nap:

My niece Hailey and nephew Ethan, on their way back from Disneyland:

“Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.”

My guess is far left, too. I suppose I could just check FB and look!

Photo tagging definitely is fun, even if (because?) it adds to the narcissism of Web 2.0. Of course, I'm a little frightened to see the high school photos of me come out now that we have what seems like a quorum from my high school marching band!

Class of '90 represent!

God, I hope everyone moves to Facebook. Myspace is an abomination.

I see you had Native Americans as your Super Quiz topic. I wonder if you still have some loose trivia kicking around in your head from all that decathlon studying.

Hahaha! No, probably not a whole lot. Once we made it to nationals, I think we realized that further study was a lost cause. Our main goal was to not end up dead last. ("In your face, South Dakota!")

I remember that Super Quiz!

(I was their ringer: a smart kid with horrible grades)

Heh, Josh Hodge (the guy standing next to me) was our ringer. He was the best math guy in our school, great draftsman, didn't give a shit about grades. He once drew--by hand--engineering drawings for the Starship Enterprise.

I'm actually a minor fan of Facebook. I liked Friendster well enough when I used it (5 years ago) but it became slooooow so I stopped using it.

I have a Myspace account but I don't use it except to read blogs from a few friends who for some reason think Myspace is really the place for such things. The people who coded Myspace (and continue to work on it) need to be slapped many, many times. I hate crappy coding and they are pros at it.

I like the photo tagging feature on Facebook (that myspace copied) but I also like that I can play Scrabble with my friends. It's also a convenient replacement for Twitter which I was on briefly but found the OCD style updates annoying. I feel more comfortable on Facebook which is a bit more private than Myspace. The networks keep unrelated people away. I just recently discovered the blocking feature which I put to good use too.

Yeah, I like Facebook -- I think I'll continue to use it, though less than LJ.

Myspace is an abomination.

If you make that into a shirt, I will wear it.

I use LJ more than any one person or even a group of ten people should.
