Thanks for the encouragement and the tips!

I actually did Crossfit for about 6 months when I lived in Raleigh, but quit when I moved to California. It's great! As you know, it really kicks your ass.

Awesome. You know, Jayman always says bodies are made in the kitchen, not the gym, and after looking at how piddly many calories I burn when I run for half an hour, I believe it. But I still think making your body more of a muscle machine (that thus burns more calories even when just sitting around) is a useful thing, and the heart health is what I want to make me last longer and yet still be able to get around on my own when I'm 90. :)

I agree, to lose significant body fat, you have to control your diet. But I think exercise is important as well, as it regulates your mood, and the additional muscle makes you much more capable, and resistant to the ravages of sarcopenia.
