Yes. Though probably not for long.

Actually, he was taken to the hospital in serious condition; he probably survived, though I've not been able to find any news stories from more than a day or two after the accident.

"Accident Victim Doesn't Die" isn't much of a news story, though, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised not to read any more about him.

from what I read, he was relatively unscathed, being fortunate enough that the crumpled part of the car more or less passed over the top of him without actually crushing him.

he is in no position to make any claims, however, since the tape (from a red-light camera) shows that he's crossing on a don't walk sign.

still, it's pretty freaky.

I guess it just goes to show, when it's your time to go, you go. when it ain't, you don't.

Oh, I think he can still sue... The accident is hardly his fault. I note that the person directly responsible for the entire thing is an elderly woman.

Which is slightly surprising, since I would have suspected some idiot college student/teenager. But the second highest demographic for car accidents is indeed the elderly... Remember the old man who drove into a flea market and killed multiple people?

Yeah. I think I'm going to have my brother steal my mom's car soon...

Snopes covered this one, since people thought the film was faked; apparently the poor sucker lived through it, at least initially. Not sure if he's still hanging in there, though.

People make fun of me but when I'm crossing ANY street my head is on a swivel. Roads are not a place to not be paying attention -especially when crossing them on foot. People are stupid.

I hope that ped miraculously survived without any permanent injuries. I fear not. I hope I die in bed...

I know. I stay awake at night just hoping that if I die, it's in my sleep. Not much of a chance though if I can't go to sleep. FUCK

When I die I want to pass away quietly and peacefully, in my sleep, like my grandfather. Not screaming in terror, like all of his passengers.

hey, that's my favourite line!

oh, and just as a hint ... don't say it in front of your grandfather. Mine _usually_ has such a good sense of humour too.

About two years ago, my wife and I were driving home on Lynn road. It was around 9 or 10 pm. About a couple of miles from the intersection with Six Forks, we witnessed an accident.

"Witnessed" here meaning, we saw a man and woman die about 100 feet in front of us.

Sadly, the 20 year old girlfriend wasn't even wearing a helmet, so after she went flying about a hundred yards in the air, she was dead on impact (shattered neck). THe 21 year old motorcycle driver survived long enough to get to the hospital.

WHich, BTW, proved ot me that while no helmet can definitely kill you, a helmet may just prolong your agony instead of saving you.

Mind you, it was entirely their fault for psychotically driving 100 MPH down Millbrook. They whipped past me and slammed into a poor woman in an SUV who was just legitimately trying to turn into her home subdivision. She survived but I have no idea in what condition...

Not really a kid who needed to have his brain backed-up, frankly.
