The Real Sparta -- not exactly libertarian paradise

And had Leonidas undergone the agoge, he would have come of age not by slaying a wolf, but by murdering unarmed helots in a rite known as the Crypteia. These helots were the Greeks indigenous to Lakonia and Messenia, reduced to slavery by the tiny fraction of the population enjoying Spartan "freedom." By living off estates worked by helots, the Spartans could afford to be professional soldiers, although really they had no choice: securing a brutal apartheid state is a full-time job, to which end the Ephors were required to ritually declare war on the helots.

Explain yourself
Culinary: Doritos Doritos, light of my life, fire of my belly. My sin, my soul. Doh-Ree-tos: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Doh. Ree. Tos.
Literary: I'm not sure how, but I'm positive that tracking the status of Lindsay Lohan's cooter will one day prove vital to our national security.
Audiovisual: The Sound of Music Yes, it's cheesy. But so bright, so sunny, so fun!
Musical: Charlie Daniel's Band The Devil once challenged me to a duel for a golden harmonica. Let's just say that I'm really hoping cryonics pans out.
