This is a really powerful film. It really captures the horror you feel in an accident. Note that it's quite graphic. Via Kevin Warnock.

There's plenty more just like it... it's a mixer of the last 20 years of safe driving ads from Victoria, Australia. They always seem to have gone for shock tactics in our road safety campaigns here, as well as anti-smoking and anti-drugs and anti-binge-drinking and work safety. I have to say though, cut together like that with REM, and the length of it, definitely add to the impact.

TAC (who created the ads) is a government created body that is responsible for paying all personal injury expenses related to transport. As part of the registration of your car/bike/truck you have to pay a premium to them, so then anyone that is injured on the road will have all their medical expenses covered. They've spent a bucketload of money on public safety campaigns because they've worked out that it actually saves them money in the long run, since they then have less insurance claims to pay out.

It's an interesting side effect of not being in a fully free market, they can create a media campaign that is for the public good and not have to worry about it benefiting their competitors as well, so it actually makes financial sense for them to do social good.
